GENERAL

 

Palm Coast is a unique new city that is perfectly set into the original, Old Florida forest. This beautiful city is easily accessed from I-95 and US1. Palm Coast also borders on the Atlantic Ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway.

Recreation is something this city is very rich in. You will find our residents walking, jogging, boating and golfing all year round, uninterrupted.

Palm coast is known for its sparkling salt and fresh water canals, parks and tree canopied paths.

One hour to Jacksonville International Airport, 30 minutes to Daytona Beach International Airport and an hour and a half to Orlando International Airport, the city of Palm Coast is right in the middle of everything but yet private and tranquil.


 


HISTORY

 

Palm coast was developed by ITT Corporation, in 1969, with a plan for 48,000 home sites on 42,000 acres.

Paved streets and central water and sewer serve all lots served within the plan.

The extensive water management system includes 46 miles of fresh water canals and 23 miles of salt water canals.

In 1975, the Flagler County Board of County Commissioners established Palm Coast Service District.

In September 1999, the citizens of Palm Coast voted to incorporate as a council/manager form of government.

On October 31, 1999, the city of Palm Coast was officially incorporated.

On October 1st, 2000, all services were transferred to the City of Palm Coast.

The first City manager was hired on April 17, 2000.

The following services are provided by the City: development services, fire services, street construction and maintenance, parks and recreational activities.

For law enforcement Palm Coast contracts with the Flagler County Sheriff Department.

 

DEMOGRAPHICS

 

As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 32,732 people residing in the city.

The city is estimated to have over 50,000 residents at this time.

The median income for household in the city is $41,570, and the median income for a family is $45,818.
