Flagler Beach is a friendly and warm little city with long and beautiful sandy beaches on the Atlantic Ocean.

In Flagler Beach residents can enjoy the outdoors all year round with an average temperature of 70.7 degrees.

The City is 3 miles east of Exit 91, I-95 interchange, 68 miles south of Jacksonville, 31 miles south of the oldest city in the US, the city of St. Augustine and 20 miles north of Daytona Beach.

The six miles of tranquil beaches have free access and cars are not allowed so that the beaches are preserved and your enjoyment will not be interrupted.

Flagler Beach is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean and the intracoastal Waterway on the west.

Fishing, swimming, surfing, boating, tennis, golf and kayaking are some of the activities that are popular with the local residents.


 

HISTORY

 

At first the it was named Ocean City and it was located on the west bank of the Intacoastal Waterway which is a wide and deep water channel, used for commercial and recreational boating.

The first home was built in 1913.

In 1923 the United States Post Office officially changed the name from Ocean City to Flagler Beach.
